Light is off and i need it badly.
Fan light pull chain stuck.
The chain is stuck on my ceiling fan light step 1.
Carefully reattach the wires from the switch to the light remembering to pair black to black and ground to ground.
Turn off the power to the fan using the circuit breaker box.

The ceiling fan has a wall switch and drop down chains to turn fan on off also light chain.
Remove the light fixture housing from the fan.
If your switch is completely broken purchase a replacement at a local hardware store before removing the old one and installing the new switch.
Open up the switch in the ceiling fan and remove the broken piece of chain before replacing it with a longer one.

Unscrew the nut holding the pull switch in place.

Replace the old switch with a new pull chain switch then place the end cap back onto the light fixture.

The switch will also need to be replaced if the chain will not pull down or if it broke off inside the fan housing.

Fan is working by switch and chain but light chain won t pull to turn on light.
If the pull chain is jammed or stuck and it will not move either way then get some non conductive lubricant spray such as the crc brand and spray a small amount into the opening where the pull chain leads into the switch because sometimes the switch mechanism binds up so the non conductive spray lubricant may do the trick.
They can get twisted also there should be a plastic grommet that the pull chain runs through.
Remove the old switch.
If your ceiling fan or the light on the fan doesn t work when the chain is pulled then the problem is most likely a broken fan pull chain switch.
Make sure it didn t fall out or get dislodged.
Unscrew the screws where the light fixture attaches to the fan assembly.
Remove the cover and set it and the screws aside.
Remove the screws holding the fan s outer cover in place.
