Using this circuit you can change the speed of the fan from your couch or bed. Turn the power back on and test the fan. Tuck the wires back into the box. This remote controlled switch circuit can control ac loads such as lights fans etc through the remote handset of tv.

The circuit is powered by regulated 9v. Infrared receiver module tsop1738 is used to receive the infrared signal transmitted by remote control. In the bistable mode output ic555 keeps two states either low or high. The circuit takes the help of a moc3031 triac driver stage for enforcing a hassle free and clean fan control through the remote handset.

You can wire a new ceiling fan with a remote to a wall. I have a ceiling fan that uses a remote control with wiring for the various features and only a common and hot wire lead. Connect white wires together. It uses the 555 timer in the bistable mode.
