If you can t stop leaks by tightening these off kilter connections you may have to disassemble the entire trap and rebuild it with extra lengths of pipe to make the connections straight.
Using slip joint pliers disconnect the slip joint nuts that hold the trap to the tailpiece and drainpipe.
